Jonathan Keezing is your classic musical nutcase. Current solo work blends (mixed nuts!) the
experiences/ influences below into song forms and instrumental pieces.

Recent releases include “Remembering Who We Really Are” with his
original transglobal rock/
mixed media group “ly6480” (a second
release is on the way!). the world music group
“Zen Garage” with Perry Young on Shakuhachi,
and Tony Silva on world percussion and
“TAP TOUCH” and album of original tap style
(both hands “tap” the neck) solo electric guitar
compositions. Other work includes:
“All Rivers Run To Rain” (guitar duets in 2003.
“Incredible musicians making incredible music,
nothing less.” Alan Levesque, Performer Magazine),
Passion Records 2002 (where Jonathan performs
with/ as: a Bach guitar quartet, a semi-sensitive
singer songwriter, co-chanel for the musical ravings of a
mythic 14th century mystic/ composer/ butler), and a children’s music CD (Luna Mu 2002) give evidence to his musical schizophrenia.
Work also continues with his jazz (and marriage!) due “Karen and Jonathan, playing original interpretations of classics from a variety of genres. All this, and, who knows what else, goes into his solo work. But first….let us briefly (I promise!) digress.

Early on, Jonathan got a BA at Berklee College of Music (composition) and studied with Mike Stern and John Damien, whom taught him: “explore your quirk’s, that’s where your individuality comes through!” Since then, Jonathan has grown exceptionally quirky.

In 1991 Jonathan became a dad. Wisely, he realized that the Stravinsky duets weren’t playing the bills. It was time to get a straight job… so he became a puppeteer. Since then, with puppetry and music, his Caravan Puppets have given many thousands of shows throughout the USA and Japan.

In 2002 Jonathan woke up to the lovely reality that he could once again afford to dive into his passion. He co-founded Passion Records (dir. Chris Florio), and began feverishly producing music. Projects ranged from collaborating with Mssr. Florio in the Jump Cut Orchestra (an 15 piece mixed media band) and directing the Psychic Dance Network (only 11 players!) to the two piece “Space Available” avant duo.

His fascination with ignoring musical borders first saw the light of day in 1989 with the release of “Hidden Wonders”  (“strong playing, original work.” Option Magazine). In 1990 he produced an production for the Harbor Group that included tap guitar, band, dance, puppetry, drama and wheat-grass sculptures.  The work was performed five times to good reviews in Boston, after which Jonathan collapsed in a stupor and went back to strummin’, pickin’ and (occasionally) grinnin like a normal guitarist.  Floating in the sea of sound, he played renaissance fairs, cover bands, Stravinsky, rock, jazz, avant (mucho!), fiddle tunes in Jerusalem, and hopped a lumber train where he played Woody Guthrie ballads through the Mohave dessert.
